There are some places you visit once, check it off the list, and move on. But then there are places like Butchart Gardens—the kind you can see twice (like I did) and still be completely blown away. Trust me, if you’re heading to Victoria, this is an absolute MUST. And I’m here to tell you exactly how to make the most of it—without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

A Garden That Actually Took My Breath Away… Again
This was my second visit to Butchart Gardens, and I was just as WOW’ed as the first time. Imagine 55 acres of perfectly manicured landscapes, vibrant flowers everywhere you look, and little pathways that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a storybook. It’s peaceful, colorful, and honestly—you don’t even have to be a “garden person” to appreciate how magical it is.
Don’t Rush It—Here’s How to Plan Smart
One thing I highly recommend? Give yourself plenty of time. We took a shuttle from downtown Victoria (super easy), but I made sure we caught an early one so we didn’t feel rushed wandering through the gardens. Our shuttle cost about $52 per person, but it was worth every cent to avoid the hassle of figuring out transportation.
Check the shuttle times before you book anything else that day. You’ll want at least a couple of hours to really enjoy the gardens without speed-walking past the best spots.
When’s the Best Time to Visit?
If you can swing it, go during Tulip Season—around the first week of April. The colors are absolutely unreal. But honestly? Butchart Gardens is gorgeous year-round. We visited in May and it was still bursting with blooms.
Also, aim for a morning visit if you want fewer crowds and better lighting for photos (because yes, you will want a million photos).
Totally Worth It!
I get it—sometimes attractions that come with a higher price tag can feel like a gamble. But Butchart Gardens? No regrets. Whether it’s your first time or your fifth, it’s the kind of place that leaves you smiling, relaxed, and with a camera roll full of floral goodness.
So if you’re heading to Victoria, make this your priority—you’ll thank me later!
